Yaqi Duan

Acupuncturist and Chinese medicine practitioner

Yaqi’s journey to Chinese medicine played a big part in helping her become the practitioner she is today: highly skilled and driven by clinical excellence, with a grounded understanding of what it means to navigate health challenges. Astute, with an eye for detail, when Yaqi works with a patient she takes the time to deeply understand the health issues facing the person in the room with her.

Her first career was in urban planning, after an extensive education at one of Australia’s most prestigious schools, the University of Melbourne, until her own health set her on a different path. Facing personal health challenges that conventional approaches weren't fully answering, she went searching for care that looked at the whole person rather than one symptom at a time. There she found Chinese medicine. This inspired her to change her career trajectory completely.

Yaqi’s personal story is important, because Yaqi has been in the patient role in the treatment room. Her personal experiences have informed her style of practice: she knows what it's like to want real answers, to want someone to really get to the bottom of things. She appreciates the cumulative nature of Chinese medicine, and she knows from personal experience that real healing takes time.

How well Yaqi did in her studies of Chinese medicine offer an insight into the way she shows up as a practitioner: focussed, determined with a keen intellect. Her presence in the treatment room is soft and grounded. She is exactly the person you want supporting your health.
